Hello there!
I’m Steve Mauro, and I’m glad you found your way here.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy.
We can start right where you are. When we sit down together, we can slow things down—take a breath, let your shoulders drop, and feel your feet on the floor. You don’t have to perform, have the right words, or explain anything perfectly. There’s no right way to begin.
I believe that many of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that bring us to therapy once served an important purpose.
They helped us cope, protect ourselves, or get through something difficult. Rather than trying to “fix what’s wrong,” let’s work together to understand what you’ve been through, what you’re experiencing now, and where you’d like to go from here.
I love stories, and I’m genuinely curious about what’s happening beneath the surface.
I want to know what matters to you, what you want, and who you’re becoming. I tend to be a little nebby, so we may find ourselves getting curious about old patterns, fears, or ways of protecting yourself that don’t fit quite like they used to. We can make room for all of it.
I’m a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC).
I earned my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University and am working toward full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. I love using mindfulness, grounding, breathwork, and other practical tools, but therapy doesn’t always have to be about doing something. Sometimes, we can simply slow down and notice what’s already happening. You might discover that you don’t have to fight an experience to move through it—or you might notice something you hadn’t before. Together, we’ll see what happens.
Outside of the therapy room…
I love dancing to soul music, playing guitar and bass, and working out. My happy places are a little contradictory—I feel just as serene in the middle of a mosh pit at a punk rock show as I do sitting on the porch while a thunderstorm rolls through. Most mornings, you’ll find me meditating with a cup of dark roast coffee and journaling, taking a little time to settle in and see what the day has to say.
If you’re curious about what working together might look like, send me a note and let's chat.
